Japanese finance company Monex (マネックス証券) announced on September 24 that it will grant Bitcoin (BTC/ビットコイン) to its shareholders as part of their mid-term benefits. The bitcoin dividends are granted by Monex to companies that hold shares as of September 30, 2019.

All Monex shareholders are paid in BTC regardless of the number of shares they hold. Monex Group said customers should have an account at their BTC wallet Coincheck (コインチェック) by March 31, 2020 to claim this mid-term benefit. They will receive the BTC equivalent of ¥500 in early April 2020.

In addition to that, the group also introduced ‘Monex Points’ for shareholders who have shares in its subsidiary Monex, Inc. This is also part of the shareholder benefits. One Monex Point is equivalent to ¥1.

Meanwhile, Monex Group announced changes in its management staff. Starting October 1, the new executive director is Yuya Asamura (浅村優也). It also named Naoyuki Kainuma (貝沼直之) as the CEO office’s new general manager.

In January 2018, Coincheck got involved in a hacking incident that stole $534 million from the company. As of April 2018, Monex Group got it back for $33.5 million. The group also announced in July 2019 its plans to join Facebook’s (フェイスブック) Libra. Libra (天秤座) is a cryptocurrency project slated for release in 2020.
